Have you always wanted to visit a winery and learn more about the art of wine tasting? At San Antonio Winery, our knowledgeable and friendly staff and wine stewards are always happy to offer wine tasting for beginners. Know what to expect with these quick tips for a first-time winery visit.
First Time Wine Tasting?
If you have never formally sampled wine, our hosted tastings are wonderful introductions for beginners. Your San Antonio Winery guide will introduce you to the Five S’s of Wine Tasting. While you can select the type of flight you wish to savor during your tasting, your guide may suggest a mix of our most popular white and red wines so you have the opportunity to flex your new See, Swirl, Sniff, Sip, and Savor skills. You can also set it up now at the San Antonio Winery Tasting & Tour.
Your hosted tasting includes a wonderful charcuterie spread to allow for proper palate cleansing between samples. Conducted on our Al Fresco Patio in Los Angeles or in our Heritage Room in Paso Robles, you enjoy a more intimate setting with fewer distractions than tasting at the counter.
Pop in for a Casual Counter Tasting
Have you attended a hosted tasting in the past and wish to explore new varietals? We always welcome you to enjoy a Counter Tasting at our tasting bar. There is no need to place a reservation.
Just let our skilled wine steward know what kinds of wine you wish to explore today, and they will provide tips and guidance to make the most of each sip. It’s a wonderful way to find the perfect bottle for your next dinner party or to add to your private cellar.
Take Home Your Favorite Bottle
Of course, after sampling a selection of Riboli Family, Maddalena, and San Simeon wines, you may want to take a bottle or a few home. Right next to our tasting room, you will find our wine and gift shop fully stocked.
Too much to carry? Ask about our wine clubs and have a box of wine delivered to your home on a set schedule throughout the year.
Go Solo, Bring a Friend, Schedule an Event
The best part of attending a wine tasting event at San Antonio Winery is that we cater to any number of guests. Reserve a private guided tasting just for you or invite a few friends to join you. Our Paso Robles location offers your group the chance to visit our production area and barrel room to further enhance your knowledge of fine wines.
Check out the wine with a Meal
You can enjoy wine with a meal at Maddalena Restaurant, with its delectable options for appetizers such as Calamari Fritti, the breakfast menu, pastas, and sandwiches, plus Specialties like New Zealand Rack of Lamb. There is also outdoor patio dining at the 1917 wine bar and bistro for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, where you can enjoy cocktails, breakfast sips, mocktails, and non-alcoholic options. The 1917 offers an exquisite menu with a variety of antipasti, insalata, and pizza, including Funghi with wild mushrooms, truffle sauce, scamorza affumicata, and mozzarella. There are also dishes of short ribs, ribeye steak, and the catch of the day. The wine list includes white, red, sparkling, semi-sparkling, and even a dessert wine.
